I actually prefer it to the original, because it is an upbeat song that teaches some of the days of the week and the guy who sings it does an excellent job. I played the Chinese version for my 2nd grade Chinese class today, and they asked to hear the English version as well. When I did, they agreed with me that they liked the guy singing it in Chinese better than the original "Friday" song. (the words are really inane in English--well, they are not much better in Chinese, but at least I use it with an educational purpose). I am thinking that I should teach this song to my students to sing at our school's Grandparents' day performance in February. I usually do something Chinese New Year related...like singing” 恭喜恭喜“, (gong xi gong xi) but I think they may have fun with “星期五” (xing qi wu) -- as many of them are already familiar with the song...or at least have heard it before.
What about you? Do you have fun songs you teach to your students?
